Quickstart

Install the CLI, authenticate, and deploy a project. This takes about five minutes.

1. Install the CLI

Vela ships a single static binary. Pick your platform:

macOS / Linux
$ curl -fsSL https://cli.vela.example/install.sh | sh
Windows (PowerShell)
> iwr https://cli.vela.example/install.ps1 -useb | iex

2. Authenticate

Log in from the CLI — this opens a browser window to confirm the session.

Terminal
$ vela login
▸ Opening browser to confirm sign-in…
✓ Logged in as you@company.com
CLI sessions use a short-lived access token scoped to your account — see vela env for managing credentials in CI.

3. Deploy

From your project directory:

Terminal
$ vela deploy
▸ Building… done
▸ Uploading assets to 4 regions… done
▸ Promoting to production… done

✓ Deployed to storefront.vela.app

That's it — subsequent deploys reuse the configuration from vela.yaml in your project root.
